Since we were established in 1978 we have been able to preserve far more than 100 historical buildings, gardens, monuments and works of art in Hamburg, and provide support to the owners of the monuments.
PROMOTING
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
Many citizens support our aims by donations, birthday donations and bequests, as well as through promoting and disseminating the idea of monument preservation and critical interest in our monuments.

Embark on a journey of discovery – locate a monument we promote in your neighbourhood or take part in the guided tours on Heritage Day.
ABOUT US
As a foundation based on sustainable development our aim is to protect the cultural monuments in Hamburg. Financial contributions for restoration and the publication of research findings serve this purpose.
THE JEWISH CEMETERY IN ALTONA
The Jewish Cemetery in Altona is over 400 years old and the candidate of the city of Hamburg for recognition as UNESCO World Heritage site. The Hamburg Monument Foundation has constructed a visitors’ centre, maintains regular opening hours and organises tours by qualified guides.
