New project at the Jewish Cemetery Altona

The Jewish Cemetery Altona will be featured as the pilot project of the initiative “Visualising topographic small-scale structures,” currently being jointly developed by experts in Jewish studies at the SalomonLudwigSteinheimInstitute, cultural information scholars at the Leuphana University Lüneburg and construction historians at the Technical University Berlin, utilizing Jewish gravestones from nine centuries. In this way, the locating of gravestones according to content or optical criteria will be simplified, thematic tours can be developed in conjunction, and structures of family and Community can be highlighted. The project is supported by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research.
